FASTCOM’s MCAS solution selected to support licencing authority for Foxtel’s iQ4 set-top box

  • FASTCOM MCAS selection follows Foxtel’s recent introduction of the New Foxtel Experience on its flagship iQ4 set-top boxes that puts Foxtel and Netflix content side-by-side all in one place.

  • FASTCOM’s MCAS provides Foxtel with total control on iQ4 applications, middleware and CAS security solutions. Updates and changes are possible at any time for a minimum cost.

  • The MCAS is a full suite for integrated management of the keys and the credentials, as well as the needed signing tools, using the standard ETSI TS 103 162 (K-LAD 2010).

Lausanne, Switzerland – September 4th, 2019

FASTCOM Technology SA a leading company in standard-based solutions for the PayTV security market, today announced that its MCAS solution has been selected to provide the licensing authority services for Foxtel’s IQ4.

The news follows Foxtel’s recent launch of the New Foxtel Experience for iQ3 and iQ4, offering customers access to the best content available, including shows from Foxtel and Netflix, all in one place.

The keys and credentials services provided by the MCAS solution allows Foxtel operating the iQ4 in a multi-vendor security strategy with three different CAS solutions installed, namely SYNAMEDIA, NAGRA and IRDETO. The MCAS allows keeping total control over the deployed iQ4 set-top box (STB) in terms of applications, middleware and CAS security solution. This allows for faster market response and for efficient resource planning.

FASTCOM’s MCAS solution provides integrated management of the keys and credentials, as well as the signing tools, needed for the STBs. The MCAS preserves the security level of traditional CAS implementations, while giving the payTV operator the opportunity to retain the direct control on the STBs in the field. In addition, the MCAS enables the payTV operator to implement dynamically a multi-vendor approach. Updates and changes are possible at any time for a minimum cost. The MCAS uses the ETSI standard TS 103 162 (K-LAD 2010) and does not use any proprietary technology.
